The global Lyocell Fibre market reached a value of about USD 855 million in 2021. The industry is projected to grow at a CAGR of around 19.6% in the forecast period of 2022-2027 to reach a value of about USD 2505 million by 2027.
The global Lyocell Fibre industry report gives a comprehensive analysis of the industry, including key segments, trends, drivers, restraints, the competitive landscape, and other essential market aspects. The widespread usage of lyocell fibre in the clothing and home textile sectors primarily drives the market's expansion. The Asia Pacific is the highest category spender by region, driving the demand for the Lyocell Fibre industry.
Lyocell fibre is a cellulose-containing bleached wood pulp, also known as dissolving pulp, that is reconstituted by the dry jet-wet spinning of cellulose fibre. It is an artificial fibre and is noted for being firm but soft, wrinkle-resistant, absorbent, and capable of imitating various textures such as suede, leather, and silk. It's utilised in several sectors, including fashion, textiles, medicine, paper, and pulp. The Lyocell Fibre industry report comprises segments by Product (Staple Fibre, Cross-Linked Fibre), Application (Apparel, Home Textiles, Medical and Hygiene, Automotive Filters, Others) and Region (North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa, and South America).
The Asia Pacific is the largest market for lyocell fibre because of its growing textile sector and rising living standards. The increasing demand for biodegradable cellulose fibre is further propelling the market. As people become more concerned about the environment, the order for the product is expanding worldwide.
The market is expanding due to the widespread usage of lyocell fibre in the clothing and home textile sectors owing to their tenacity and absorption effectiveness, which is why they are chosen over other fibres such as cotton and rayon. Because lyocell fibre-based apparel and home textiles do not shrink or deteriorate when dissolved in water, businesses are spending more on items derived from these fibres. Furthermore, producers are increasingly turning to lyocell fibre as the need for environmentally acceptable and biodegradable cellulose fibres grow. Other factors like the fact that it may be disposed of by landfilling, sewage digestion, or burning after use are further propelling the industry. Furthermore, because lyocell fibres contain no hazardous substances, they are perfect for making medical-grade non-woven materials.
The global Lyocell Fibre industry report by Procurement Resource gives an in-depth analysis of the best buying practices followed by major global Lyocell Fibre regions across the globe, such as engagement models, contract terms, and buyer and supplier negotiation levers, among others.
Lyocell fibre is made from dissolving pulp, which has a high purity of cellulose with low hemicellulose and no lignin. Hardwood logs are chipped into postage-stamp-sized squares. To remove the lignin and hemicellulose, the chips are chemically digested and are bleached to eliminate any leftover lignin, then dried and rolled onto spools in a continuous sheet. Rolls of pulp are broken into one-inch squares and dissolved in N-methyl morpholine N-oxide at the lyocell mill. The filtered cellulose solution is then pushed through spinnerets; equipment used to spin synthetic fibres. The spinneret is punctured with tiny holes, and continuous filament strands emerge when the solution is squeezed through it. The cellulose molecules are aligned in the threads by drawing in air, giving the lyocell fibres their distinctive high strength. Subsequently, the fibres are submerged in a water bath, where the cellulose strands are set by desolvation. A steady-state concentration of dilute amine oxide is present in the bath. The fibres are then rinsed in de-mineralised-mineralised water and transported to a drying room. The strands are then sent to a finishing section, where they are lubricated. The dried, completed fibres are in the shape of tow, a huge, untwisted bundle of continuous filament lengths at this point. The tow bundles are transferred to a crimper, which compresses the fibre and gives it texture and volume. Mechanical carders separate and organise the strands of crimped yarn by operating like combing.
The booming footwear sector is propelling the industry. Many new footwear manufacturers are rising in countries like Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia, and lyocell fibre use in footwear is expanding; therefore, demand for lyocell fibre will increase in these countries. Furthermore, technological advances have permitted the synthesis of lyocell fibre utilising sophisticated N-methyl morpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) technology, which is a straightforward, resource-conserving, and ecologically benign technique of cellulose fibre regeneration. Additionally, to gain organic certification, producers are producing lyocell utilising natural processes and avoiding chemicals, which opens new market potential.
The regional markets for the industry can be divided into North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the Asia Pacific.
To extend penetration across profitable areas, the businesses above use a combination of organic and inorganic techniques. Product launches, new product introductions, collaborations, acquisitions, and building regional and worldwide distribution networks are examples of these tactics.
