This report presents a detailed cost analysis of carbolic acid production from benzene and propene via the Cumene process. In this process, cumene is produced by the reaction of benzene and propene in the presence of an acid catalyst. Then, at specific temperature and pressure, cumene is oxidised to produce cumene hydroperoxide. Finally, sulphuric acid is added to hydroperoxide, which is followed by the neutralisation process to produce carbolic acid with propanone as the by-product.
