With the aid of a bifunctional catalyst for both synthesis and methanol dehydration, DME from syngas is produced in a single reactor. Later, DME Synthesis Reactor, a purification unit, which can separate the DME from the water and methane in a double distillation stage is needed. The reactor produces the syngas using a coal/petroleum residue gasifier or a natural gas steam reformer.
Two distinct reactors that contain the necessary catalysts are used to facilitate the manufacturing of DME from methanol and the synthesis of methanol from syngas.
