This study analyzes Ethyl Phenylacetate Production by Catalytic Esterification of Phenylacetic Acid in Hydrochloric Acid, covering manufacturing, process flow, operating expenses, and financial considerations.
Last Updated: January, 2025
This report entails the detailed cost evaluation of ethyl phenylacetate production by the catalytic esterification of phenylacetic acid in hydrochloric acid. The synthesis of ethyl phenylacetate is carried out by the esterification of phenylacetic acid in hydrochloric acid. The reaction is initialized by the combination of phenyl acetonitrile and sulfuric acid in the presence of an alcohol. It generates phenylacetic acid as the intermediate, along with ammonium hydrogen sulfate as the byproduct. The intermediate is further processed in the presence of an acid catalyst, i.e., hydrochloric acid. The reaction leads to the esterification of phenylacetic acid and results in the production of ethyl phenylacetate while eliminating water from the mixture.
