This report provides an extensive cost evaluation of Isononanol production from octenes. The manufacturing process of Isononanol involves the hydroformylation of octenes in the presence of cobalt catalyst and pressurized synthesis gas. The octenes are reacted with the carbon monoxide and hydrogen present in the synthesis gas to give the respective aldehydes having chain length of 9 carbons. The aldehydes are further hydrogenated in the presence of a trimetallic catalyst to form the Isononanol, followed by purification. The final step is the hydro-refining step in the presence of hydrogen and a nickel-based catalyst.
