The process is initialized with the chemical combination of lithium salt with anhydrous hydrochloric acid. Initially, lithium salt is dissolved into the anhydrous hydrochloric acid that results in the formation of the intermediate, i.e., lithium bifluoride solution. The intermediate is further treated with phosphorus pentafluoride gas and produces the resultant. The resultant is separated and dried to yield lithium hexafluorophosphate crystals as the final product.
