This report presents a detailed cost analysis of methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) production from aniline and formaldehyde using the phosgenation process. In this process, reaction between aniline and formaldehyde produces a mixture of diphenyl methane diamine (MDA) and polymeric amines (PMDA). Finally, the mixture produced undergoes phosgenation reaction to produce MDI and polymeric MDI followed by their separation, thus, producing MDI as the final product.
