This report presents a detailed cost analysis of methyl methacrylate production from acetone using the acetone cyanohydrin (ACH) route. In this process, acetone and hydrogen cyanide undergoes condensation to produce acetone cyanohydrin (ACH), which is further hydrolysed using the sulphuric acid to obtain a sulphate ester of the methacrylamide. The ester produced undergoes methanolysis to finally produce methyl methacrylate with ammonium bisulphate as the by-product.
