Oleum Production By Contact Process

This report proffers the thorough economics of oleum production by contact process. The preparation process is initiated by the oxidation of sulfur, which results in the formation of sulfur dioxide. Sulfur dioxide is again treated with oxygen in the presence of a catalyst, such as vanadium pentoxide that yields sulfur trioxide as an intermediate. The reaction is further carried by treating the intermediate with water resulting in sulfuric acid, as a resultant.
