This report provides an overview of the production of phenolic resin from phenol and formaldehyde. In this process, phenol and formaldehyde are mixed with the caustic compound in a closed container. Then it is heated and stirred till the temperature reaches 60 degrees Celsius. Further, it is subjected to reflux which is performed at a temperature of 98 degrees Celsius. Then the water is eliminated from the vessel base, and methanol is added to the mixture for dilution. Hence phenolic resin is produced.
