Last Updated: January, 2025
This report presents detailed cost economics of Float Glass production from molten sand. In this process, sand is firstly liquefied by heating it to a fairly high temperature of around 1700 °C. However, the sand must comprise silicon dioxide (SiO2), along with soda ash and limestone. Later, the sand, which is then, molten, is allowed to cool and it turns into glass, an amorphous solid. There are various grades of glass that are produced industrially; however, the basic methodology of glass production is based on molten sand process.
