Analysis Basis : Germany

Period of Analysis : Q3 2019

Delivered in PDF Format

This report presents a detailed cost analysis of sodium chlorate production from sodium chloride via a typical electrolysis process. First, salt is dissolved and then purified to remove impurities. The purified salt is dissolved into chlorate electrolyte and enters the electrolyte circulation. HCL is added to the electrolyte prior to the electrolysis. The electrolyte enters the electrolysis cells, chloride ions are oxidized on the anodes and water is reduced on the cathodes, producing hydrogen gas. Gas from the electrolytic cells and reactor tanks is purified by scrubbed with alkaline to remove chlorine. A sodium chlorate crystal slurry exits the vacuum crystallizer.
