This study analyzes Sodium Ferrocyanide Production By Chemical Synthesis Route, covering manufacturing, process flow, operating expenses, and financial considerations.
Last Updated: January, 2025
This report proffers the thorough economics of sodium ferrocyanide production by chemical synthesis route. The preparation of sodium ferrocyanide begins with the chemical reaction among hydrogen cyanide, ferrous chloride and calcium hydroxide. It results in the production of a calcium salt i.e., Ca2[Fe(CN)6] • 11 H2O, as an intermediate. The intermediate obtained is further treated with sodium salt to generate the precipitates of calcium-sodium salt i.e., CaNa[Fe(CN)6]2, as a resultant. It is then retreated with sodium carbonate and yields sodium ferrocyanide as the end product.
Sodium ferrocyanide is a sodium salt that is prepared by using ferrous sulfate, sodium cyanide, hydrogen cyanide, ferrous chloride and calcium hydroxide as some of its major feedstocks. The procurement of sodium ferrocyanide and its primary feedstocks is influenced by some of the prime factors, such as the availability of its feedstocks (including iron, sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, methane, ammonia, hydrochloric acid, used for the preparation of ferrous sulfate, sodium cyanide, hydrogen cyanide and ferrous chloride), stability in its supply chain, demand from the pharmaceutical and dyestuff sectors, etc. Additionally, other factors, including the production cost, extraction cost for iron metal (raw material), transportation and trade, market prices, activities in its upstream industries, logistics, and governmental policies, altogether impact its procurement in the global market.
