This report provides a comprehensive cost evaluation of steel rebar production through electric arc furnace and Rolling Steel mills. In this process, steel scrap is accrued from different sources and fed to an electric arc furnace where the steel slag is first kept in a ladle to melt it at elevated temperatures as high as 1,800 ° F. Then, the molten steel is produced which is kept in casters facilitated by first keeping it in a tundish which prevents splashing of the molten steel.
The steel upon being placed in different casters are given required shape. The billets are thus formed which are then further processed to form steel billets. Then, the steel billets are further kept and processed in rolling steel mills, where billets are rolled according to the desired specification of steel rebar (ribbed steel bar).
