Synthetic Anethole Production via Friedel-Crafts Acylation

This report presents a detailed cost analysis of synthetic anethole production using the Friedel-Crafts acylation reaction. In this process, Friedel-Crafts acylation of anisole and propionyl chloride produces an initial product, which is further reduced using sodium borohydride. The reduced product finally undergoes catalytic dehydration using organic acids and acidic inorganic salt to produce synthetic anethole via distillation.
