This report presents the economics of synthetic rubber production from isoprene through the solution polymerisation process. In this process, a monomer such as isoprene is used as a feed material. Isoprene is treated by polymerisation using a catalyst and process steam to form chains of polymers, finally resulting into a rubber substance. Using vulcanization, these polymer chains are then converted into a more durable material, thus, forming synthetic rubber.
