This study presents the economics of Vinyl Acetate production from acetic anhydride and ethylene via a typical vapor-phase oxidation process. It is produced by the catalysed, vapour phase reaction of acetic acid with ethylene and oxygen in a fixed bed tubular reactor using a supported noble metal catalyst. The reaction is carried out at 175-200 degree Celsius and 5-9 bar pressure. Vinyl Acetate is recovered by condensation and scrubbing and purified by distillation.
