Maltose price trends 2025
In 2025, maltose prices showed a downward trend overall, although they fluctuated across global markets. In the first quarter, prices fluctuated due to frequent changes in supply conditions. High levels of inventory and cautious purchasing behavior pushed prices down, while short-term logistical issues and seasonal demand led to temporary price increases. In the second
quarter, prices stabilized or rose slightly in some regions. Rising raw material and transportation costs increased production costs for a short period, and supply temporarily tightened in some markets. In regions where demand from food and pharmaceutical applications improved, this supported prices. However, the price recovery was limited due to overall restrained consumption.
In the third quarter, maltose prices fell sharply. Oversupply was the main factor, driven by improved production efficiency and increased production volume in Asia. Lower transportation costs and abundant export supply also put downward pressure on the global market as a whole. Demand weakened further as buyers reduced spending and relied on existing inventory, leading sellers to lower prices to clear their stock.
Prices remained weak towards the end of the year. While expectations for future supply expansion rose due to increased starch-based processing capacity in emerging regions, demand growth remained sluggish. Due to a highly competitive market environment and abundant supply, prices remained low in the second half of 2025.
Analyst's opinion
According to Procurement Resource, maltose prices are expected to remain stable or slightly weak, with any price recovery depending on the growth in demand and how quickly new supply is absorbed by the market.
