Product Overview

The report provides a detailed analysis essential for establishing a Deoxyarbutin production plant. It encompasses all critical aspects necessary for Deoxyarbutin production, including the cost of Deoxyarbutin production, Deoxyarbutin plant cost, Deoxyarbutin production costs, and the overall Deoxyarbutin production plant cost. Additionally, the study covers specific expenditures associated with setting up and operating a Deoxyarbutin production plant. These encompass production processes, raw material requirements, utility requirements, infrastructure needs, machinery and technology requirements, manpower requirements, packaging requirements, transportation requirements, and more.

Deoxyarbutin is an advanced cosmetic ingredient primarily used as a potent skin lightening and brightening agent. It functions as a highly effective tyrosinase inhibitor, which blocks melanin synthesis, thereby reducing hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and uneven skin tone. Additionally, compared to other agents like arbutin, kojic acid, and hydroquinone, deoxyarbutin offers superior efficacy with faster, more lasting results and a better safety profile, including less cytotoxicity and some antioxidant activity. It is widely incorporated in skin care products such as creams, serums, and spot treatments aimed at treating melasma, sun damage, and age spots.

The deoxyarbutin market is driven by increasing consumer demand for effective and natural skin lightening and brightening products, especially in the cosmetics and personal care industry. The global rise in the awareness of skin health and pigmentation issues, such as hyperpigmentation, melasma, and age spots, fuels this demand. The premiumisation trend in skincare, with consumers willing to pay more for high-purity and efficacious ingredients, further propels market growth. Additionally, the growing e-commerce sector and personalised skincare trends expand accessibility and customisation options, boosting adoption.

The availability and consistency of supply depend on advancements and efficiency in extraction and purification technologies, which affect industrial deoxyarbutin procurement. Furthermore, regulatory compliance also influence procurement, especially due to strict regulations in some regions related to skin-lightening agents and safety concerns like potential skin irritation and hydroquinone formation.

Raw Material for Deoxyarbutin Production

According to the Deoxyarbutin production plant project report, the various raw materials for Deoxyarbutin production include 3,4-dihydropyran and monoacetyhydroquinone.

Production Process of Deoxyarbutin

The extensive Deoxyarbutin production cost report consists of the following major industrial production process:

  1. Production via deacetylation: The production process of deoxyarbutin involves the condensation of 3,4-dihydropyran and monoacetyhydroquinone to form 2-[(4-acetyloxy)]tetrahydropyran as the intermediate. In the final step, the deacetylation of the intermediate compound 2-[(4-acetyloxy)]tetrahydropyran using sodium borate as a catalyst produces deoxyarbutin. The process is performed easily at room temperature using common salts such as sodium hydrogen sulfate, PPTs, and sodium borate as catalysts.

Properties of Deoxyarbutin

Deoxyarbutin is a white to off-white solid with the molecular formula C11H14O3 and a molecular weight of 194.23 g/mol. It has a melting point of about 88.6 degree Celsius and a boiling point near 307.5 degree Celsius. Its density is approximately 1.276 g/cm³ at 22 degree Celsius. The compound is slightly lipophilic with a topological polar surface area of around 38.7 Ų. It is known as 4-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yloxy)phenol and is a reversible tyrosinase inhibitor with an IC50 of 50 nM, implying potent activity in melanin synthesis inhibition. Deoxyarbutin is soluble in DMSO (≥8.05 mg/mL) and tends to be unstable in acidic aqueous solutions (below pH 7), where it can degrade, forming hydroquinone. It has better stability under neutral or alkaline conditions and must be stored properly to maintain purity and prevent degradation. Its safety profile indicates low cytotoxicity and irritation potential, which makes it suitable for cosmetic formulations targeting skin lightening.
