Carbitol Production Cost Report

Carbitol (monoethyl ether of diethylene glycol) (C6H14O3) is a solvent that is a product of Ethylene Oxide and Ethanol. It is an excellent solvent for several resins & pastes etc.

Carbitol has properties like great solvency, good chemical stability, and compatibility with water, and a number of organic solvents. It appears to be colourless and has a subtle sweet odour. It is a little viscous in nature. It has a boiling point of 196°C at 760 mmHg. It has a flash point (Closed Cup), and a freezing point of102 °C, and -54°C, respectively.  Its molecular weight is 134.2 g/mol). It's an extremely hygroscopic liquid that is miscible with water, ether, acetone, chloroform, benzene, ethanol, pyridine, etc.

Carbitol is mainly used in dermatology since it functions as an ingredient in several commercial cosmetic products as well as in a few formulas that can be used in the skin. It offers an excellent vanishing effect which makes it ideal for use in these formulations. Furthermore, it is used to carry out penetration into fibers and to stimulate the production of fierce and radiant shades, which furthers the market demand. As a solvent, it helps remove nongrain-raising wood stains and also works like an industrial cleaner.

Owing to its high boiling point and low vapor pressure, it can facilitate twist setting and yarn and cloth conditioning. In textiles, it finds use as a solvent for dyestuff for printing and dying of fiber & fabrics. It has application in the manufacturing of Brake Fluid as it has a low setting point and low viscosity at low temperatures. Other uses of the solvent include its use as a solubilizer in drilling and cutting coolants, to produce and formulate pesticides & wood preservatives, and in Indian & ink ballpoint pastes.
