Its physical properties, including a flash point below -40 degree Celsius and vapour pressure around 30 atm at 80 degree Celsius, necessitate specialised handling under inert conditions due to extreme flammability and toxicity concerns (e.g., 30 μg/m³ threshold). Chemically, weakened Si-H and Si-C bonds from alpha-methyl substitution enable its role in silicone polymer synthesis, surface modifications, and advanced materials.
