How to Order Your Report?

Product Overview

The report provides a detailed analysis essential for establishing an Indene production plant. It encompasses all critical aspects necessary for Indene production, including the cost of Indene production, Indene plant cost, Indene production costs, and the overall Indene production plant cost. Additionally, the study covers specific expenditures associated with setting up and operating an Indene production plant. These encompass production processes, raw material requirements, utility requirements, infrastructure needs, machinery and technology requirements, manpower requirements, packaging requirements, transportation requirements, and more.

Indene is an organic compound that finds various industrial applications. It is widely used as a solvent for the production of indene/coumarone thermoplastic resins and various other polymers (polyindene) and resins. Moreover, it also finds its applications for frequency calibration in IR spectrophotometers. It is also utilized as a co-monomer in the production of styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR) that is further used in automotive parts, tires, rubber tubes, etc.  Additionally, the compound and its derivatives are often employed in the manufacture of various chemical products, which include insecticides and other agrochemicals.

The market of Indene is largely led by its application as a solvent in the production of resins, specifically indene/coumarone thermoplastic resins, which significantly promotes its demand in the plastics, polymers, and petrochemical industries. Moreover, its usage as a co-monomer in producing styrene-butadiene rubber that is utilized to develop automotive parts further enhances its demand in the rubber, production, and automotive industries.

Additionally, its employment in the synthesis of various chemicals, insecticides, and pesticides remarkably boosts its demand in the chemical production and agrochemical industries. Furthermore, several factors influence industrial Indene procurement, such as the availability of raw materials (tetrahydronaphthalene, etc.), cost and pricing, regulatory compliance, quality standards, technological advancements, environmental considerations, sustainability practices, distribution (including trading and shipping), logistics, safety standards, etc.

Raw Material for Indene Production

According to the Indene production plant project report, the major raw materials for Indene production include Propyne-Acetylene-3-Phenylpropene; Tetrahydronaphthalene.

Production Process of Indene

The extensive Indene production cost report consists of the following industrial production processes:

  • Production via Combustion: This method of production involves the reactions of the phenyl radical with propyne (C3H4) isomers allene and propyne and the reaction of the benzyl radical and acetylene, followed by the unimolecular decomposition of the 1-phenylallyl radical that originates from the product of the C6H5 + propene reaction, which is 3-phenylpropene to obtain indene as the product.
  • Production from Tetralin (tetrahydronaphthalene): This method of producing indene involves the use of tetralin (tetrahydronaphthalene), which is passed over a silica-alumina (SiO-AlO) catalyst at extreme temperatures of 670 degrees Celsius. In this method, tetrahydronaphthalene serves as the starting material, which is passed over silica-alumina (SiO-AlO) catalyst at high temperatures that facilitates the breaking of C-H and C-C bonds in tetralin and leads to the dehydrogenation and rearrangement of the compound to obtain indene as the final product.

Indene appears as a white to pale yellow transparent liquid that does not dissolve in water but is soluble in most organic solvents such as benzene, alcohol, ether, etc. The molecular formula of the compound is C9H8, and its molecular weight is 116.16 g/mol. Moreover, the compound is also known by some other names, that are Inden, Indonaphthene, and 1H-Indene.

The density of the compound is 0.996 g/mL at 25 °C (lit.), and its flash point is 78.33. Additionally, the melting point and the boiling point is in the range of -5--3 °C and 181-182 °C, respectively. It is recommended storage temperature is between 2-8 °C. The compound is generally stable but polymerizes, when exposed to light, and is also sensitive to air. The compound is flammable and extremely harmful and can cause damage to the skin, eyes, and lungs if inhaled.
