Ioversol is a non-ionic, iodinated contrast agent that appears as an odourless white to off-white crystalline powder. The molecular formula of the compound is C18H24I3N3O9, and its molar mass is approximately 807.11 g/mol. The density of the solid is about 2.3 g/cm³. It has a melting point in the range of 180–182 degree Celsius, and it boils at around 864.9 degree Celsius under standard pressure. The flash point of the compound is estimated to be 476.9 degree Celsius. It is generally marketed as OPTIRAY®. The compound is sparingly soluble in water-miscible organic solvents such as DMSO and slightly soluble in methanol. It is relatively stable and hygroscopic, and standard precautions such as avoiding dust inhalation and using protective clothing are recommended during handling.
