It is a potential chemical that can be added for manufacturing transparent conducting films that produce stable, high-lithium-concentrated glass. It is added in molten salt baths to strengthen the glass materials. It serves to speed up the hydration reaction in preparing Portland cement. Lithium Sulfate has medical and therapeutic applications, as well.

The compound can be used in treating bipolar disorder. It is used in psychiatry and helps in the treatment of endogenous depression, mania psychosis, etc. It can be used as an alternative to lithium carbonate in treating schizophrenia. Moreover, it has a vital role to play in organic chemistry. The compound is used in the synthesis of other chemicals. It serves as a catalyst in the elimination reaction to produce 1-butene at a range of around 320 to 370.
