The product is filtered, washed, and dried to get oxacillin sodium as the final product.

Oxacillin has a molecular formula of C19H19N3O5S with a molecular weight of 401.44 g/mol. It has a thiazolidine ring attached to a beta-lactam ring, critical for its antibacterial activity. It shows good stability against bacterial enzymes called beta-lactamases, which typically break down other penicillins. It has a melting point around 188 degree Celsius. It has two hydrogen bond donors, four rotatable bonds, and a polar surface area of approximately 112.74 Ų. Its logP (partition coefficient) is about 2.38, which makes it lipophilic. This combination of physical and chemical properties contributes to its effectiveness as an antibiotic and its pharmacokinetic behaviour in the body.
