Telavancin has the molecular formula of C80H106Cl2N11O27P with a molecular weight of 1755.65 g/mol. It appears as a white to off-white lyophilised powder or crystalline solid. It contains a complex heptapeptide core with decylaminoethyl side chain, phosphono-methylamino group, and multiple sugar moieties conferring amphiphilicity. It has a density of around 1.6 g/cm³ and high protein binding (>90% to albumin). It shows low water solubility, which requires reconstitution in 5% dextrose or saline for IV use. It has a topological polar surface area of 598-607 Ų with 23 hydrogen bond donors, 29 acceptors, rotatable bonds 30-31, and 10 rings. Its volume of distribution is 0.14 L/kg, plasma clearance 12-13 mL/h/kg, and elimination half-life 6-9 hours by renal (8-9 mL/h/kg).
