It contains a terphenyl carboxylic acid structure with functional groups including hydroxyl, pyrrolidine, and tert-butyl substituents. It has a pKa of about 5.69, indicating its acidity. It is known for its stability and retention of activity as a topical agent because of its high selectivity for RAR-γ, which contributes to its efficacy and reduced side effects in skin-related therapeutics. It is used mainly in acne treatment formulations and studied for other dermatological applications.
