In the first half of 2026, 5-Nonanone prices followed a broadly firm-to-range-bound trajectory. Corn, the principal upstream feedstock source, turned firmer through Q1 2026 as tighter old-crop inventories in China and cautious farmer selling lifted regional benchmarks, even though prices remained well below the highs of recent years on a historical basis. This firmer feedstock tone lent modest cost support to 5-Nonanone production economics, offsetting otherwise ample near-term corn availability.
On the demand side, paint and coatings consumption was steady but unspectacular, while agrochemical offtake remained sensitive to seasonal sowing cycles. With feedstock costs edging higher and downstream buyers procuring cautiously to near-term needs, prices moved within a narrow, modestly firmer band through the period.
