About Bronopol
An organic substance called bronopol is employed as an antimicrobial. Despite commercial samples appearing yellow, it is a white solid. Bronopol gained popularity as a preservative in a variety of consumer goods, including shampoos and cosmetics, due to its low mammalian toxicity at in-use levels and high activity against bacteria, especially Gram-negative species. Other industrial settings, including paper mills, oil exploration and production facilities, as well as cooling water disinfection plants, subsequently adopted it as an antimicrobial.
