Coated Virgin Paperboard (200 GSM) prices were found to be varying in the Asian markets during the second half of the year 2023. In the Indian market, the monthly average prices inclined marginally from July to the middle of the fourth quarter of 2023.
The inclination was very steady and swift and was primarily owed to the rising inflation in the international markets. However, as the year's end approached, the industrial demand started stagnating; moreover, the inventories were also creating some pressure on the suppliers. This started pushing the price trajectory down again in the latter phase bringing the monthly average value back to 850 USD/MT (EXW) in December as well. Overall, a very mixed and subdued trend was observed for 200 GSM virgin paperboard during the second half of the year 2023.
