Asia
During the second half of 2025, Ethyl Acrylate prices in Asia showed mixed but mostly stable movement. In China, the market was influenced by changing supply conditions rather than strong demand growth. Acrylic acid availability tightened at times due to plant maintenance and controlled operating rates, which helped support Ethyl Acrylate values even when downstream demand stayed moderate. Buyers in coatings, adhesives, and hygiene products purchased cautiously, but steady consumption prevented sharp declines. At the same time, feedstock propylene provided cost support during periods of tight supply. Although buying slowed after holiday restocking, producers managed output carefully, which helped maintain market balance.
Europe
In Europe, especially Germany, Ethyl Acrylate prices remained largely stable throughout H2’25 despite pressure from both feedstock and demand sides. Feedstock costs for ethanol and acrylic acid declined, and demand from construction and coatings stayed weak due to slower industrial activity. Normally, this would have pushed prices lower, but producers responded by cutting production rates and managing inventories tightly. This disciplined supply approach prevented oversupply. Moderate export demand within Europe and nearby regions also helped absorb excess volumes. Buyers remained cautious and avoided large purchases, yet prices stayed steady as sellers resisted discounting. As a result, the European market showed stability rather than growth or decline.
North America
In North America, Ethyl Acrylate prices followed a soft to stable trend during H2’25. The market was influenced by weak ethanol feedstock prices due to surplus supply and falling fuel demand. This reduced production costs, but downstream demand from coatings, adhesives, and industrial applications stayed modest. Producers focused on balancing output with consumption to avoid stock pressure. Export activity helped ease domestic supply, preventing aggressive price competition.
Analyst Insight
According to Procurement Resource, Ethyl Acrylate prices are expected to remain steady in the coming months owing to controlled supply while the market demand recovers.

Asia
In the first half of 2025, the Ethyl Acrylate market in Asia remained largely sluggish due to weak downstream demand and volatile feedstock prices. The early part of the year saw some temporary optimism ahead of the Lunar New Year, with a brief increase in demand from the coatings and adhesives sectors. However, this momentum faded quickly after the holiday period. Demand recovery was slower than expected, particularly in China, where trade tensions and export-related uncertainties weighed heavily on sentiment.
Falling acrylic acid prices driven by oversupply and low international demand further reduced cost support for Ethyl Acrylate. Throughout the period, market activity remained subdued, with buyers cautious about overstocking amid ongoing price pressure and a lack of clarity in end-use markets like textiles and construction. The EAA copolymer market’s weakness also reflected broader challenges in the region, contributing to a bearish trend for Ethyl Acrylate in Asia.
Europe
The European Ethyl Acrylate market followed a largely bearish trend in H1’25, mirroring the weak sentiment seen in the broader acrylic acid value chain. Although there was a short-lived uptick in January due to rising production costs and some supply disruptions from plant maintenance, this was quickly offset by poor demand from key sectors like construction and automotive.
Procurement activity remained minimal, with many buyers holding sufficient inventories. Economic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions added to the cautious buying behaviour. By March, trading slowed further, as most market participants focused on fulfilling existing contracts rather than taking new positions. The downstream market lacked momentum, and overall activity remained restrained despite stable production operations.
North America
In North America, Ethyl Acrylate prices also trended downward over the first half of 2025. Demand from coatings and adhesives remained underwhelming, especially amid construction slowdowns and harsh winter conditions early in the year. Ongoing macroeconomic uncertainty, including concerns around trade policy and administrative changes, led to cautious procurement across the market.
Logistic disruptions due to weather and slow industrial recovery further dampened the market. As the quarter progressed, some normalization in supply chains occurred, but weak demand and high inventory levels kept pressure on prices. Producers refrained from making aggressive pricing moves, contributing to the overall subdued market tone.
Ethyl acrylate, more commonly known as the ethyl ester of acrylic acid, is a colorless liquid with a sharp, unpleasant odor. It is less dense than water and may polymerize violently (exothermically) if heated or contaminated. It is a naturally occurring volatile component in pineapple, Beaufort cheese, and vanilla as volatile components. It can also be manufactured industrially via several processes. It is used as an intermediate in the manufacturing of various pharmaceutical compounds. Ethyl acrylate is often used as a flavoring agent in plastics, resins, etc.

The production of ethyl acrylate is carried out via the esterification of acrylic acid and ethanol. It is carried out using an in-situ reactor where the feedstocks are added with the acid catalyst. A mixture containing ethyl acrylate, ethanol, acrylic acid, water, and acid catalyst is obtained upon the reaction. This mixture is carried to an ester distillation column where the products are separated. The desired ethyl acrylate is condensed, whereas the other unspent feedstock is sent to the reaction mixture again.
