Asia
In Q4’25, Isosorbide prices in Asia showed mixed but mostly firm movement. The region continued to benefit from strong sorbitol production capacity, especially in countries like China and India where starch-based feedstocks were widely available. However, pricing pressure increased toward the middle of the quarter due to higher upstream uncertainty. Protests by sugarcane farmers in India highlighted deeper problems in agricultural pricing, energy costs, and mill operations. While Isosorbide was not directly produced from sugarcane, the unrest affected overall sentiment in the bio-based chemicals market and raised concerns about feedstock stability. Freight delays and seasonal demand from pharmaceutical and personal care sectors ahead of year-end also supported prices.
Europe
In Europe, Isosorbide prices remained relatively stable during Q4’25. France continued to play a key role due to its efficient production systems and well-integrated supply chains. Feedstock availability was steady, and producers benefited from normal operations and lower disruption risks compared to other regions. Demand from pharmaceutical and sustainable polymer sectors stayed consistent, supporting price levels. However, buyers remained sensitive to logistics costs and energy-related expenses, which prevented any aggressive price movement.
North America
In North America, Isosorbide prices experienced mild upward pressure in Q4’25. Volatility in corn-based feedstock markets influenced production costs, especially as corn prices reacted to global supply concerns and transport issues. Seasonal demand from healthcare and specialty chemical industries increased toward the end of the year, tightening availability. Freight disruptions and cautious inventory management by suppliers also contributed to firm pricing. Buyers focused more on long-term supply security rather than short-term cost.
Analyst Insight
According to Procurement Resource, Isosorbide prices are expected to remain sensitive to feedstock costs, agricultural policy changes, and logistics stability, with sufficient bio-based chemicals demand continuing to support the market.

Asia
In Asia, Isosorbide prices stayed mostly stable during the third quarter of 2025. Demand from the pharmaceutical, polymer, and food packaging industries remained moderate, with buyers purchasing limited quantities. The stable supply of glucose, a key feedstock for Isosorbide production, helped keep manufacturing costs under control.
Producers operated smoothly as there were no major supply disruptions. However, slower downstream activity and the seasonal manufacturing slowdown limited any significant upward movement in prices. Overall, the Asian market stayed balanced, supported by steady production and cautious buying sentiment.
Europe
In Europe, Isosorbide prices also showed little movement during the said quarter. The market maintained a steady tone as producers had sufficient access to glucose and other feedstocks. While high energy and operational costs prevented any major decline in production expenses, steady imports and moderate domestic production met the regional demand well.
Buying from the pharmaceutical and biopolymer sectors remained stable, though not aggressive. Many buyers preferred to keep their inventories at regular levels instead of bulk purchasing. As a result, prices moved within a narrow range throughout the quarter, reflecting a balanced market scenario.
North America
In North America, Isosorbide prices stayed stable with minor fluctuations through the quarter. Demand from bioplastics, coatings, and pharmaceutical applications remained steady but lacked strong momentum. Feedstock supply from glucose sources was sufficient, and most domestic producers were able to meet regional demand without difficulty. Cautious buying behaviour from end-users and competition from global suppliers kept the market quiet. There was no major pressure from either supply or demand, leading to stable pricing trends across the region.
Isosorbide consists of oxygen-containing heterocycles and belongs to the group of diols. It is a highly hygroscopic white crystalline solid. Isosorbide is a potent vasodilator that is used to prevent angina. It relaxes the coronary arteries, which increases the blood flow around the ischemic area, avoiding the loss of life. It is an organic nitrate obtained from the catalytic hydrogenation of glucose.

During the first step, sorbitol is obtained via the hydrogenation of glucose. The sorbitol obtained undergoes acid-catalyzed dehydration to form monocyclic furanoid sorbitan, which yields bicyclic furofuran derivative isosorbide on further dehydration.
