About MVQ (Vinyl-Methyl-Silicone Rubber)

MVQ, also known as vinyl-methyl silicone rubber, is a synthetic silicone elastomer based on a silicon-oxygen backbone with methyl and vinyl side groups. It offers strong heat resistance, low-temperature flexibility, ozone resistance, UV resistance, weather resistance, and good electrical insulation. MVQ is valued in applications where rubber parts must remain flexible and stable across a wide temperature range. It is also used in food, medical, pharmaceutical, electrical, automotive, and mechanical applications due to its flexibility, biocompatibility, and resistance to ageing.

Production Process

MVQ (Vinyl-Methyl-Silicone Rubber) Production by: Ring-Opening Polymerization of Cyclic Siloxanes: MVQ is manufactured through the ring-opening polymerization of cyclic siloxanes, such as octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, combined with vinyl-functional siloxane intermediates. The process involves dehydration, catalyst addition, polymerization, and removal of residual low-molecular-weight compounds. The resulting silicone gum is compounded with fillers, pigments, additives, and curing agents to achieve the desired mechanical and processing properties for various industrial applications.

Industrial Uses

MVQ is used in O-rings, gaskets, seals, sealing lips, hoses, membranes, valves, cable insulation, electrical insulators, housing seals, molded parts, profiles, food-grade sealing components, medical tubing, pharmaceutical equipment parts, automotive ignition seals, radiator hoses, and high-temperature industrial components.
