Palmitic acid in Asia showed a firm trend during Q1’26, mainly driven by stronger crude palm oil feedstock values and steady downstream consumption. In China, palm-based feedstock costs increased from January to March, supported by tighter availability from producing countries, firm market sentiment, and improved demand from the food sector. In India, the market also strengthened as buying interest improved, with palm oil remaining attractive in the edible oil segment and import-side purchasing staying steady. Feedstock availability began improving toward the end of the quarter, as Malaysia’s crude palm oil production rose by 7.21% month-on-month to 1,376,849 tonnes in March, which helped ease some supply concerns but did not fully offset earlier tightness. Downstream demand from food emulsifiers, cosmetics, soaps, detergents, and industrial oleochemicals remained stable, preventing any major correction.
