In China, the average Strontium Carbonate price fell from around USD 2200/MT (FOB) in May to roughly USD 1789/MT (FOB) in June, showing an ~18.68% decrease, while Indian average price declined from about USD 2267.34/MT (CIF) in May to ~USD 1876/MT (CIF) in June, down ~17.22%. Asian Strontium Carbonate markets remained firm during the early part of H1 as limited celestite availability and China’s dominant refining position tightened supply and increased production costs. Demand from permanent ferrite magnets, automotive components, electronics, ceramics and specialty glass supported consumption and encouraged producers to maintain firmer offers. By June, however, improved material availability and weaker restocking pressure allowed prices to decline sharply from May levels. India followed the Chinese market lower because of its exposure to imported material and regional supply conditions.

Strontium carbonate prices showed mixed trends between Q2’25 and H2’25 in the Chinese region. Prices reached their annual peak in April before gradually retreating during Q2. Earlier withdrawal of outdated production capacity tightened availability and supported the initial rise. Higher celestite procurement costs added upward pressure, partly offset by cheaper coal. During H2’25, additional industry capacity became available, increasing competition and driving prices progressively lower. Producers faced stronger competition in standard-grade material, where similar specifications limited pricing power. Downstream purchasing was insufficient to sustain earlier prices against expanding availability; the evidence points to supply growth and competitive selling as the principal downward drivers. By Q4, lower celestite procurement costs than in Q2 and cheaper coal further reduced cost support.
Strontium carbonate is an odorless, white, amorphous solid having a molecular weight of 147.63 g/mol. The compound is widely used in the manufacturing of fireworks, glass, and ceramics as a colorant and flux. It is weakly soluble in water and has a very high melting point and thus can be used in applications involving elevated temperature conditions. Strontium carbonate also has the ability to absorb excess carbon dioxide along with strong luminescence.
