Product Overview

The report provides a detailed analysis essential for establishing an Aspartic Acid production plant. It encompasses all critical aspects necessary for Aspartic Acid production, including the cost of Aspartic Acid production, Aspartic Acid plant cost, Aspartic Acid production costs, and the overall Aspartic Acid production plant cost. Additionally, the study covers specific expenditures associated with setting up and operating an Aspartic Acid production plant. These encompass production processes, raw material requirements, utility requirements, infrastructure needs, machinery and technology requirements, manpower requirements, packaging requirements, transportation requirements, and more.

Aspartic Acid is an amino acid that is important in protein synthesis, energy production, and various metabolic processes like the urea cycle, gluconeogenesis, and the Krebs cycle. It exists in two forms, L- and D-aspartic acid, where L-aspartic acid takes part in synthesising proteins, neurotransmitters, enzymes, and hormones. D-aspartic acid is involved in brain development and the regulation of the endocrine system. It is used in the production of biodegradable polymers like polyaspartic acid, which works as a superabsorbent material in hygiene products.

It is used as an important ingredient in the artificial sweetener aspartame. It also improves fertiliser efficiency by enhancing water retention and nitrogen uptake. It supports amino acid metabolism and nerve health, and it contributes to detoxification processes in the liver.

The aspartic acid market is driven by rising demand from the food and beverage industry, pharmaceutical applications, and animal feed sectors. The increasing consumption of processed foods, nutritional supplements, and functional foods fuels its demand. The focus on sustainable and green production methods, supported by government subsidies and incentives for green amino acid production, contributes to its market growth.

The industrial aspartic acid procurement is influenced by availability and prices of its raw materials (like acetic acid, ammonia, and fumaric acid), purity grades (pharmaceutical vs food grade), and geopolitical factors like tariffs affecting precursor chemicals. The demand for sustainable sourcing and production to address environmental concerns and supply chain stability further affects its sourcing strategies.

Raw Material for Aspartic Acid Production

According to the Aspartic Acid production plant project report, the key raw materials used in the production of Aspartic Acid include Fumaric Acid-Ammonia.

Production Process of Aspartic Acid

The extensive Aspartic Acid production cost report consists of the following major industrial production process:

  1. From Fumaric Acid and Ammonia: The production process of Aspartic acid involves a biotechnological process. This process includes the fermentation of fumaric acid or its salts with ammonia or ammonium salts using cultured microorganisms. In this process, microorganisms such as Brevibacterium species are aerobically cultured under controlled conditions and oxygen supply. The cultured microbial cells convert fumaric acid and ammonia into L-aspartic acid enzymatically over several days. After fermentation, the cells are separated by centrifugation, and the aspartic acid is recovered by crystallisation after concentration of the fermentation broth.

Aspartic acid has the molecular formula C4H7NO4 and a molecular weight of 133.10 g/mol. It appears as a white crystalline powder or crystals with a slightly sour taste. It is a polar, acidic, and hydrophilic compound that exists as orthorhombic bisphenoidal leaflets or rods. Its melting point is around 270-272 degree Celsius, and it decomposes upon boiling or heating above this range. It is soluble in water, freely soluble in dilute acids and sodium hydroxide, but insoluble in ethanol and ether. It has a density of around 1.66 g/cm³ and a log P of about -3.89, which makes it highly hydrophilic. It contains two carboxyl groups (-COOH) and one amino group (-NH2), making it a dicarboxylic amino acid with acidic properties. It is optically active with specific rotation values recorded. It is stable but combustible and incompatible with strong oxidising agents.
