Product Overview

The report provides a detailed analysis essential for establishing a Diethylaluminium Chloride production plant. It encompasses all critical aspects necessary for Diethylaluminium Chloride production, including the cost of Diethylaluminium Chloride production, Diethylaluminium Chloride plant cost, Diethylaluminium Chloride production costs, and the overall Diethylaluminium Chloride production plant cost. Additionally, the study covers specific expenditures associated with setting up and operating a Diethylaluminium Chloride production plant. These encompass production processes, raw material requirements, utility requirements, infrastructure needs, machinery and technology requirements, manpower requirements, packaging requirements, transportation requirements, and more.

Diethylaluminium chloride (DEAC) is a co-catalyst in Ziegler-Natta systems for olefin polymerisation. It is utilised to produce high-quality polyolefins like polyethylene and polypropylene with enhanced molecular weight control, mechanical strength, and durability in plastics production. It also functions as a Lewis acid in organic synthesis, catalysing Diels-Alder, ene reactions, and selective C-C bond formations for pharmaceutical intermediates, fine chemicals, agrochemicals, and speciality products such as coatings, adhesives, and synthetic rubber.

Additionally, it finds applications such as chain transfer in elastomer production, cationic polymerisation of isobutylene, and R&D for novel catalysts in diene polymerisation and advanced materials.

The market demand for Diethylaluminium chloride (DEAC) is propelled by the increasing global demand for polyolefins in automotive, packaging, construction, and consumer goods, driven by its role as a co-catalyst in Ziegler-Natta polymerisation for high-performance polymers. Innovations in speciality chemicals for electronics, medical devices, and renewable energy, alongside process automation and sustainable catalyst solutions, boost its market growth.

The rising global population and urbanisation increases the need for durable, lightweight materials in packaging, automotive, and consumer electronics, contributing to the market. Additionally, continuous process improvements in polymer production that require sophisticated, selective catalysts like DEAC for enhanced efficiency and product quality propel the demand. Industrial diethylaluminium chloride procurement is influenced by raw material availability (e.g., petrochemical feedstocks), global supply chain disruptions, and fluctuating polyolefin demand.

Raw Material for Diethylaluminium Chloride Production

According to the Diethylaluminium Chloride production plant project report, the various raw materials for Diethylaluminium Chloride production include zinc (or Cu-Zn alloy)- ethyl bromide/ethyl iodide.

Manufacturing Process of Diethylaluminium Chloride

The extensive Diethylaluminium Chloride production cost report consists of the following major industrial production process:

  1. Production via a two-step chemical process: The production process of diethylaluminium chloride (DEAC) initiates with the formation of ethylzinc halide by reacting finely divided zinc (or Cu-Zn alloy) with ethyl halides like ethyl bromide or ethyl iodide mixtures. The reaction occurs in inert solvents such as hexane, cyclohexane, or toluene at 50-100 degree Celsius, often initiated by a trace of pre-formed halide. In the next step, aluminium trichloride is suspended in the mixture (1 mol AlCl3 per 2 mol ethylzinc halide), heated to 60-250 degree Celsius, and DEAC is distilled under reduced pressure after solvent removal.

Properties of Diethylaluminium Chloride

Diethylaluminium chloride (DEAC), having the molecular formula C4H10AlCl (dimer C8H20Al2Cl2) and a molecular weight of 120.56 g/mol, is a colourless to pale yellow transparent liquid. It has a density of 0.887–0.902 g/cm³ at 25 degree Celsius and a melting point of -51.5 to -85 degree Celsius. It has a boiling point of 125 degree Celsius at 50 mmHg or 182–208 degree Celsius at 760 mmHg and a flash point of -9 degree Fahrenheit to 17 degree Celsius. As a highly reactive pyrophoric Lewis acid, it reacts violently with water (releasing HCl and ethane) and is miscible in non-polar solvents like hexane. It requires inert atmosphere storage at 0-6 degree Celsius due to extreme sensitivity to moisture and oxygen, which makes it ideal for Ziegler-Natta catalysis and alkylation in organic synthesis.
