Asia
In Asia, Aluminium Chloride prices showed a mixed but mostly steady trend during Q4 2025. On the cost side, primary aluminium values remained firm in October, supported by strong futures performance and falling inventories in China. At the same time, hydrochloric acid (HCl), remained relatively stable with only small movements. This kept overall production costs balanced.
In November, aluminium prices stayed elevated but became more volatile, while HCl demand from steel and construction sectors stayed soft in some parts of the region. This limited strong upward movement in Aluminium Chloride prices. By December, aluminium alloy and primary metal prices fluctuated at high levels, but cautious downstream buying and stable chlorine-related costs prevented sharp gains. Buyers largely purchased based on immediate needs, and the market moved within a narrow range.
Europe
In the European market, the prices of Aluminium Chloride were soft to stable in Q4’25. The aluminium market was supported in early Q4 by concerns over supply and robust global markets. Nevertheless, the demand from the automotive and construction industries was moderate. In the chlorine market, HCl prices softened a little because of weak steel industry demand and firm supply conditions, thus alleviating pressure on Aluminium Chloride prices. As the quarter entered the winter off-season, purchases were more conservative. Although aluminium cost indicators were firm, chlorine market conditions were soft, hence restraining any significant movement in prices.
North America
Aluminium Chloride market prices in North America displayed a stable to slightly firm trend in Q4’25. High primary aluminium prices and import tariffs were favorable to the metal cost component in October. On the other hand, chlorine-based cost components faced downward pressure as HCl market prices were declining slightly due to low steel production. This provided a balanced cost structure to the market. Aluminum prices were high and volatile in November and December, whereas chlorine derivative demand was moderate. Industrial players were cautious and did not build up inventory. Hence, Aluminium Chloride market prices were stable with minimal fluctuations.
Analyst Insight
According to Procurement Resource, Aluminium Chloride market prices are expected to trade flat in the upcoming period as high aluminium costs are expected to offset stable chlorine market conditions.

Asia
In Asia, aluminium chloride prices stayed firm during the said quarter. This was largely due to rising costs across the aluminium industry, including higher alumina prices, which is a key input. Chinese alumina production increased, but tight spot supply and high futures prices kept alumina expensive. As a result, downstream chemicals like aluminium chloride also saw cost pressure.
At the same time, some producers shifted their focus from liquid aluminium to other forms like casting ingots, affecting the supply of by-products used in aluminium chloride production. Although demand from end-users such as water treatment and industrial chemical sectors was seasonally lower, cautious trading and supply concerns helped keep prices supported.
Europe
In Europe, aluminium chloride prices edged up slightly. The region saw stable but modest demand, while supply challenges remained due to global raw material tightness. The European Commission’s anti-dumping duties on certain Chinese imports, including fused alumina, created uncertainty in the market. This led buyers to secure materials early, including chemicals like aluminium chloride, to avoid future disruptions. Although downstream industries like water treatment and chemicals didn’t show strong demand, the trade policy changes added pressure to prices. Overall, aluminium chloride prices remained steady to slightly higher despite the summer slowdown.
North America
In North America, aluminium chloride prices also leaned higher during the third quarter. The U.S. government expanded tariffs on many aluminium-related products, which raised input costs for producers. This impacted the entire supply chain, including aluminium chloride.
Local producers faced higher operating costs due to expensive raw materials and energy. Demand from key sectors like municipal water treatment and industrial cleaning remained moderate but steady. Low inventories and delays in getting parts and materials further tightened the market. As a result, prices stayed firm throughout the quarter.
Analyst Insight
According to Procurement Resource, Aluminium Chloride prices may remain stable in the short term, supported by high production costs and trade-related issues. However, stronger demand will be needed for any major price rise in Q4’25.
Aluminium chloride is an inorganic compound that is primarily used in the metallurgy industry as a component in the production of aluminum. It is also used in the smelting of aluminum. It is the most commonly used Lewis acid and is used in the chemical industry as a catalyst in the production of a wide range of organic chemicals.

On a large scale, an exothermic reaction between aluminum metal and chlorine or hydrogen chloride produces Aluminium chloride. The temperature is kept between 650 and 750 °C. When hydrogen chloride is used, hydrogen gas is produced as a byproduct.
