- BOPP Film markets strengthened through much of H1 2026 as supply disruptions, higher production costs and tightening polypropylene availability supported replacement values.
- Polypropylene, propylene and crude-linked feedstocks drove production costs higher, while freight and logistics disruptions added further pressure during the first half.
- Packaging, labels, food wrapping and consumer-goods demand remained steady, although converters became more cautious as supply conditions improved toward the end of H1.
In the Middle East, the average BOPP Film price was ~USD 1284/MT (CFR) in June, while in the USA, the average price stood at ~USD 1403/MT (CIF) in June. BOPP Film markets remained firm during H1 2026, with the strongest upward pressure developing during the first quarter as crude-linked polypropylene feedstock costs increased and disruptions to Middle Eastern trade routes raised freight, insurance and replacement expenses. Tight polypropylene availability also encouraged film producers to maintain firmer offers. During Q2, supply conditions became more balanced as polymer plants restarted and regional operating rates improved. In Europe, reduced import availability and elevated energy and logistics expenses continued to support BOPP production costs, although cautious converter purchasing limited further increases. North American conditions remained firm as polypropylene producers benefited from export opportunities, while improved propylene availability provided some cost relief before renewed supply concerns emerged toward quarter-end. Demand from flexible packaging, food applications, labels and consumer products remained steady throughout the period, but buyers increasingly shifted toward requirement-based procurement as resin availability improved.

BOPP Film Production Process
In this, polypropylene resin pellets are extruded into a thick molten sheet. This sheet is then simultaneously stretched in both the machine direction (MD) and the transverse direction (TD) to align polymer molecules, enhancing strength and clarity. After stretching, the film undergoes heat setting to relieve internal stresses and ensure dimensional stability. Finally, the cooled film is wound into rolls for further processing.
