This report presents an exhaustive economics of the production of benzyl acetate from the organic amine and benzyl chloride. In this process, the organic amine is first allowed to react with an excessive amount of benzyl chloride at a temperature of about 60-90°C for 15-60 minutes, producing a phase transfer catalysed feed solution, which is followed by the addition of sodium acetate, sodium carbonate and water to the feed solution for the esterification leading to the generation of the first crude product of benzyl acetate.
This first crude product is washed, which gives the second crude product, which again undergoes treatment to eliminate residual impurities, after which a third crude product is obtained, finally undergoing refining, producing pure benzyl acetate.
