Air Water India Secures Fourth Plant Contract

Air Water Inc. of Osaka, Japan, announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Air Water India Pvt. Ltd., has acquired a large-scale gas plant currently under construction at Tata Steel’s facility in Jamshedpur. The company also confirmed it had entered into a 20-year contract for the long-term operation and maintenance of the facility.

It was stated that the new plant would produce Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Argon in both gaseous and liquid forms, with a production capacity of 1,800 metric tons of oxygen per day. Operations are scheduled to commence in November 2025.

The company explained that the plant would provide Tata Steel with a stable supply of industrial gases while also supplying the liquefied by-products to merchant customers in Eastern and Northern India, where demand is strong. This initiative is expected to accelerate the growth of its industrial gas business in the country.

Air Water India noted that Tata Steel, one of India's largest steel manufacturers and a core company of the Tata Group, has been a long-standing partner. The subsidiary currently operates three other onsite gas plants at the same Jamshedpur facility, having supplied gases there continuously since 2019. The company added that its sales capabilities and strong presence as an industrial gas manufacturer in the Indian market were highly valued by Tata Steel, which led to the awarding of this project as the fourth onsite plant.

Going forward, the Air Water Group stated it would continue to leverage its comprehensive capabilities to enhance safe and stable operations while expanding and strengthening its gas production and distribution infrastructure throughout India.
