LyondellBasell's Differentiated Polyethylene (PE) Technology Selected by PetroChina

According to LyondellBasell, PetroChina Jilin Petrochemical Company will be licensing LyondellBasell’s polyethylene technology again at their Jilin City, Jilin Province, P.R. of China facility. The recently authorised technology will include LyondellBasell’s top high-pressure Lupotech process technology, which will be employed for a 100 kiloton per year (KTA) Autoclave and a 300 KTA Tubular line both.

The two production trains will primarily be producing low-density polyethylene (LDPE) with ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers (EVA). In addition, an added 400 KTA Hostalen ‘Advanced Cascade Process’ (ACP) line will be built simultaneously for producing high-density polyethylene (HDPE).

As per the Director of Global Licensing and Services at LyondellBasell, Neil Nadalin, they are content to be competent for licensing an extra LyondellBasell polyethylene technology in the project as PetroChina Jilin Petrochemical Company is a significant existing licensee along with who they have had a prolonged and booming history. He added that the recently added lines would possess their state-of-the-art high-pressure Lupotech technology along with their multi-modal HDPE technology allowing PetroChina to create differentiated polyethylene resins.

They are pleased with the initial Hostalen unit operating on their site based in China, and they are keen on adding a recent multi-modal HDPE line that employs the Hostalen ACP technology, as per PetroChina Jilin's Chief Engineer, Han Zhiqun. He further added that they are keen to extend their future product portfolio into differentiated low-density polyethylene resins by using the LyondellBasell Tubular and Lupotech Autoclave processes. The just added capacity will support them to facilitate their endeavours for helping the global energy transition and being able to serve the solar panel lamination and encapsulant market best.

The plants of PetroChina HDPE will begin their functions with Avant Z 501 and Avant Z509-1 catalysts in order to create a complete range of multi-modal HDPE products.
