This includes manufacturing processes, raw material requirements, utility requirements, infrastructure requirements, machinery and technology requirements, manpower requirements, packaging requirements, transportation requirements, etc.

Cold Rolled Steel Sheet Production Cost Report

Cold Rolled steel sheet is basically hot-rolled steel that has been processed further. It is made by further processing in cold reduction mills, where the material is cooled to room temperature, after which annealing and temper rolling takes place.

Cold Rolled steel sheet offers great properties like improved strength and machinability. It also offers qualities like smooth surfaces that typically have an oil-like touch, a better finish and tighter tolerances, and well-defined edges in square bars and tubes with better straightness and concentric uniformity. These sheets have closer dimensional tolerances and a broader range of surface finishes compared to hot rolling, which allows the products to have a shiny and smooth surface which is free of rust and scale.

It is also twenty times stronger compared to hot rolled because of strength hardening that makes it ideal for high-stress applications. It also offers better precision and does not shrink following the forming process creating highly precise components which don't demand much secondary processing. However, it is more expensive than its counterpart. It has a tensile strength of 85,000 psi and yield strength of 70,000 psi. Its Brinell hardness is 167.

Cold Rolled steel sheet is primarily used in applications that require better metal surface finishing and tighter tolerances, like in aerospace parts, mechanical components, automobiles, rods, bars, strips, home appliances like refrigerators and washing machines, architectural components, and sheets and metal furniture structures. In engineered products, it is used in applications where the required properties are concentricity, tight tolerances, coated surfaces, and straightness. Owing to its high ductility, it can be used in making household appliances, furniture, and filing cabinets. Hence, its wide use in the manufacturing industry is boosting its market expansion.
