Frequently Asked Questions

The suggested CAPEX range is USD 55 million to USD 160 million for a 100 MMSCFD gas processing facility.
The benchmark plant capacity is 100 to 500 MMSCFD of raw gas inlet capacity.
The global natural gas market is valued at around USD 1.48 trillion and is expected to reach about USD 2.11 trillion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 7.4%.
Power generation accounts for around 35% to 40% of global consumption, industrial heating and petrochemical feedstock represent around 25% to 30%, residential and commercial heating account for about 15% to 20%, and transportation fuel, LNG bunkering, and other applications constitute the remaining 5% to 10%.
The process involves passing raw gas through an inlet separator, followed by amine sweetening at 25 to 50 degree Celsius, glycol dehydration, and cryogenic turbo-expander NGL recovery at about minus 84.4 degree Celsius. The NGL stream is then sent through deethanizer, depropanizer, debutanizer, and butane splitter columns.
Key inputs include raw natural gas from the wellhead, amine solvents such as monoethanolamine or diethanolamine, triethylene glycol (TEG), and molecular sieve desiccant. Raw gas access and treating chemical costs together account for around 70% to 85% of total production expense.
Core process equipment, including amine contactors, glycol units, cryogenic turbo-expanders, fractionation columns, and gas compressors, accounts for around 40% to 55% of the total natural gas plant setup cost.
Manufacturing costs are mainly driven by access to competitively priced raw gas reserves and treating chemical costs, which together represent around 70% to 85% of total production expense.
Major natural gas-producing countries include the United States, Russia, Qatar, Canada, Iran, and Australia. The United States, Russia, Iran, and China together accounts for around 53% of global natural gas production, with the United States alone contributing about 25%.
Pipeline-quality natural gas generally has a heating value between 950 and 1,150 Btu/scf, while raw gas produced from wells typically contains around 65% to 85% methane.
Natural gas processing plants must comply with applicable environmental, emissions, wastewater, sulfur management, pipeline safety, and waste-handling requirements. For international trade, liquefied natural gas is generally classified under HS 27111100, while natural gas in gaseous form is classified under HS 27112100. Applicable customs duties depend on the importing country and trade regime.
