Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) and Epsilon Carbon Private Ltd have entered into a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding to develop a long-term supply relationship for liquid coal tar pitch. The agreement was formalised at the Gateway Gulf Forum 2025 in the Kingdom of Bahrain and is seen as a pivotal step for Alba in securing its supply chain and enhancing operational efficiency. The partnership also supports Epsilon Carbon’s plans to establish a coal tar pitch melting facility within Bahrain.

The MoU establishes a framework for future discussions between the two companies, paving the way for a detailed long-term supply agreement. It further outlines procedures for trial shipments, quality control measures, and the definition of mutually agreeable commercial terms.

Alba’s CEO, Ali Al Baqali, stated that the collaboration marked a significant milestone in the company's efforts to reinforce supply chain reliability and maintain high-quality standards. He expressed confidence that the partnership would secure a key operational input, support the growth of Bahrain's industrial sector, and deliver lasting value for both organisations.

Vikram Handa, Managing Director of Epsilon Carbon, described the collaboration as an important step toward sustainable industrial growth. He noted that with the company's coal tar distillation capacity projected to reach 750,000 tonnes by 2027, and backed by a planned investment in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the initiative aims to strengthen regional collaboration and supply chain resilience. He added that this would reinforce the industrial corridor between India and the Kingdom of Bahrain, contribute to a reduced carbon footprint, and help realise a shared vision for a more sustainable and efficient aluminium industry.
