Linde India starts off with its new gas plant in Lucknow

Linde India sets forth with its new gas facility in Lucknow

Linde India was reported to have commenced commercial production at its new gas facility located in Unnao, Lucknow, in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh.

The plant would support both industrial and medical gas requirements and would enhance storage, handling, and distribution capabilities. Construction on the facility was noted to have begun in April 2022. This inauguration is the latest in a series of developments for the company within the fast-growing Indian market.

The industrial gases major had announced the previous week that it was advancing its plans for a new production plant in Dholera, Gujarat, to meet demand from India’s emerging semiconductor and electronics sector. That plant would reportedly produce oxygen, nitrogen, and argon to serve upcoming electronics projects in the region, though specific quantities were not disclosed.

Linde’s other operations in India were said to include air separation units for Tata Steel in Odisha and a contract to supply industrial gases to the Panipat refinery in Haryana.

The parent company, Linde plc, which recorded global sales of 33 billion USD in 2024, recently reported a second-quarter operating profit of 2.35 billion USD. It was noted that its Indian business accounts for approximately 3% of global sales.
