During an official visit by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Brussels, a cooperation agreement was signed between NEXTCHEM and JSC “Uzkimyosanoat” to develop a carbon capture project in Uzbekistan. The signing took place within the framework of the Uzbekistan Economic Day. JSC “Uzkimyosanoat,” a state holding company consolidating chemical industry enterprises, is known for implementing a strategy focused on innovation and the creation of modern production facilities to stimulate industrial growth.

According to the agreement, the parties will establish a Joint Working Group to prepare a feasibility study for the carbon capture and storage project, which will utilize NEXTCHEM’s proprietary NX Decarb™ technology. This initiative was noted to align with Uzbekistan’s new state policy on industrial decarbonization. It was further stated that the parties plan to explore the possibility of jointly implementing the project with the involvement of other companies within the MAIRE Group for the engineering, procurement, and construction stages, as well as for securing the necessary financing.

Fabio Fritelli, the CEO of NEXTCHEM, emphasized that the partnership with “Uzkimyosanoat” demonstrates his company's commitment to supporting the development of Uzbekistan’s energy sector through its portfolio of low-carbon technologies. He stated that they were pleased to support “Uzkimyosanoat” on its decarbonization path and to strengthen their industrial and technological presence in the strategically important Central Asian region.
