  • Silver attempted to recover after recent selling as buyers returned at lower price levels.
  • Spot silver rose about 0.93% to USD 63.70/oz, showing a modest rebound rather than a sustained price surge.
  • Treasury yields near 5% and expectations of a Federal Reserve rate increase continued to restrict stronger silver gains.
  • High crude oil prices reinforced inflation concerns, keeping interest-rate expectations elevated and adding uncertainty to precious-metal pricing.
  • Silver prices remain exposed to shifts in US rates, the dollar and bond yields, keeping procurement costs volatile for industrial buyers.

Silver prices stabilized after recent selling pressure, with the metal recovering modestly as traders balanced safe-haven demand against expectations of tighter US monetary policy. Spot silver moved to around USD 63.70 per ounce, up about 0.93% during early US trading.

The recovery followed a period of pressure from rising bond yields and shifting interest-rate expectations. Markets were heavily positioned for a 25-basis-point Federal Reserve rate increase, keeping precious metals sensitive to changes in Treasury yields and the US dollar.

The benchmark US 10-year Treasury yield briefly reached about 5.04%, its highest level since 2007, before moving back toward the 5% area. Higher yields have weighed on silver because investors can obtain greater returns from interest-bearing assets. A firmer dollar has added pressure to dollar-denominated metal prices.

Energy markets have also influenced silver. Brent crude traded above USD 105 per barrel and WTI remained above USD 100 per barrel. Higher oil prices have increased inflation concerns, reinforcing expectations that interest rates could remain elevated. At the same time, geopolitical uncertainty has provided some defensive support to precious metals, preventing a more pronounced decline.

Silver's dual role as a precious metal and an industrial raw material leaves its price exposed to monetary conditions as well as physical demand. Near-term purchasing costs for users in solar equipment, electronics, electrical systems and other manufacturing applications are likely to remain sensitive to the dollar, Treasury yields and Federal Reserve guidance. The price recovery shows that buying interest is still present, but the high-rate environment continues to restrict stronger gains.
