- Petronet LNG and ONGC signed a master regasification agreement for the Dahej terminal
- The agreement enables ONGC to supply regasified LNG to downstream consumers
- The MRA was signed on 27 January 2026 during India Energy Week in Goa
- ONGC aims to expand gas marketing through LNG imports and sales
- The deal supports India’s growing natural gas demand and infrastructure use
Petronet LNG and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation have signed a master regasification agreement that allows Petronet LNG to provide LNG regasification services at its Dahej terminal. The agreement creates a formal framework enabling ONGC to access regasification capacity and supply regasified natural gas to downstream consumers across the country.
The agreement was signed on 27 January 2026 during India Energy Week 2026 held in Goa. It is valid for a period of five years and includes a provision for extension if both parties agree to continue the arrangement. By securing access to one of India’s key LNG terminals, ONGC strengthens its ability to manage imported gas volumes in a structured and predictable manner.
This partnership supports ONGC’s interest in expanding its presence in gas marketing by importing liquefied natural gas and selling regasified LNG in the domestic market. With India’s gas consumption steadily increasing, access to established LNG infrastructure and pipeline connectivity is becoming critical for companies aiming to serve industrial, commercial, and city gas distribution customers.
The agreement also aligns with ONGC’s broader strategy of balancing domestic gas production with imported LNG to meet rising demand. As production from mature fields faces natural decline, LNG is expected to play a growing role in ensuring supply stability. Regasification arrangements like this allow ONGC to respond more effectively to market needs while improving supply reliability.

For Petronet LNG, the agreement reinforces the role of the Dahej terminal as a central hub for LNG handling and regasification in India. By offering regasification services to major energy producers, the company continues to deepen utilisation of its infrastructure and support the expansion of the natural gas ecosystem in the country.
