  • Five-year agreement expands Neste-supplied SAF to over 100 UK and European airports
  • Supports compliance with ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation and UK SAF mandate
  • Combines World Fuel’s distribution network with Neste’s SAF production capacity
  • Rotterdam refinery produces up to 500,000 tons of SAF annually
  • Neste plans to increase total SAF capacity to 2.2 million tons per year by 2027

Neste and World Fuel Services expanded their long-standing partnership with a new five-year agreement aimed at increasing the availability of sustainable aviation fuel across the United Kingdom and Europe. The deal will make Neste-supplied SAF accessible at more than 100 airports within World Fuel’s regional network, widening supply options for commercial airlines as well as business and general aviation operators.

The extended arrangement strengthens World Fuel’s ability to secure reliable volumes of SAF as regulatory requirements tighten across Europe. With measures such as the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation and the UK SAF mandate setting clear targets for blending sustainable fuels into conventional jet fuel, suppliers are under growing pressure to ensure consistent access. By locking in additional supply from Neste, World Fuel is positioning itself to meet these obligations while supporting its customers’ compliance efforts.

SAF distributed through World Fuel’s established European infrastructure will draw on Neste’s production capacity, including its renewable fuels refinery in Rotterdam. The facility is currently capable of producing up to 500,000 tons of SAF per year, forming a central part of Neste’s broader plan to expand output. The Finnish producer is working toward increasing its total SAF production capacity from 1.5 million tons annually to 2.2 million tons by 2027, reflecting rising demand from airlines seeking lower-emission alternatives.

The partnership combines World Fuel’s airport network, logistics systems and on-the-ground distribution capabilities with Neste’s refining and supply expertise. This integration allows SAF to be delivered at scale across multiple markets, helping operators secure fuel in locations where availability has previously been limited. For airlines operating across borders, dependable access to SAF in major European hubs is becoming increasingly important as environmental targets move from voluntary commitments to mandatory requirements.

By extending their agreement, the two companies are reinforcing an existing collaboration rather than starting from scratch. The renewed commitment signals confidence in SAF as a central component of aviation’s decarbonisation strategy and reflects a shared focus on expanding supply in step with regulatory and market developments across the region.
